KYC Requirements by Country
Account Owner data and documents required to open a virtual account in each country, and how to provide them with each KYC mode.
Overview
Every country has its own regulatory requirements for the Account Owner behind a virtual account. The Account Owner schema keeps country-specific fields optional because no single country needs all of them. When you open an account, Infinia checks that the Account Owner has every value that the account's country requires. If a value is missing or invalid, account creation is rejected.
How you meet these requirements depends on the KYC mode of the Account Owner:
| KYC Mode | Who collects the data and documents | What you need to do |
|---|---|---|
HOSTED | Infinia, through the hosted verification flow | Nothing. The hosted flow collects every value and document the country requires. |
SELF_DECLARED | You | Send every value required for the country when you create the Account Owner. Upload each document with Initiate Document Upload first, and pass the returned id in the matching *_document_id field. |
EXTERNAL | Your KYC provider (e.g. SumSub) | Configure your provider so that it collects every value required for the country and only the accepted document types. Unsupported document types are rejected at review. See Using EXTERNAL. |
See Account Owners for the integration flow of each KYC mode and the document upload steps, and Account Capabilities for which Account Owners can open an account in each currency.
Base requirements
These requirements apply to every currency. With SELF_DECLARED, you send them when you create the Account Owner. With HOSTED and EXTERNAL, they are collected by the verification flow.

Using EXTERNAL
With kyc_mode = EXTERNAL, Infinia imports the applicant from your KYC provider and builds the Account Owner from the verified data. Your applicant level must collect every value that the account's country requires.
Values imported from SumSub
| Account Owner field | SumSub applicant data |
|---|---|
first_name, last_name | Name on the identity document |
date_of_birth | Date of birth |
tax_id, tax_id_country | Number and issuing country of the identity document (ID card, passport, driver's license or residence permit) |
additional_tax_id | Additional number on the identity document, e.g. the CUIL printed on the Argentine DNI |
email | Applicant email |
phone_number | Applicant phone |
address | First residential address: street, town, state, postal code and country |
If any of these values is missing, the Account Owner is created with status FAILED and a failure_reason naming the missing field, e.g. Verification data incomplete. Missing field: 'postal code'. An applicant rejected by the provider also results in a FAILED Account Owner.
Values from questionnaires or custom fields
Some country-specific values, such as the PEP declaration, the CUIL in Argentina or the employment and marital status in Peru, are often collected in a questionnaire or in a field such as the SumSub TIN. When a value comes from one of these sources, Infinia can configure a mapping that reads it from your field and stores it in the matching Account Owner field. Share the questionnaire and item identifiers, and the values each item can take, with your account manager.
Configure the mapping before you send
EXTERNALAccount Owners for a country that requires these values. Without it, the Account Owner is created without them and account creation in that country is rejected.
