# Transaction Limits

Learn the default monthly transaction limits per currency and account owner type, how to check an account's usage, and how to request a limit increase.

Every account is created with a **default monthly transaction limit**, which applies from the moment the account is activated. The limit is shared by the payouts sent from the account and the funds credited to it, such as deposits and payins. Internal transfers don't count toward it.

Limits apply per account, not per company. Each account has its own usage counter, which resets at the start of each calendar month (00:00 UTC on the 1st).

## Default monthly limits

These are the default limits per currency and account owner type. Depending on the use case, higher limits can be configured from the start after an initial review, so these defaults aren't necessarily the limits your integration operates with.

The limit and the usage of each account are tracked in the account's own currency. A payout always counts in the currency of the account it's sent from, whatever the currency it's paid out in.

<Callout icon="⚠️" theme="warning">
  A payout that would take the account over its monthly limit can be rejected with HTTP `409` and the error code `MONTHLY_LIMIT_EXCEEDED`. Funds credited to the account are never rejected because of the limit, but they count toward it.
</Callout>

## Check an account's usage

To see how much of the monthly limit an account has used, call [Get Account Limits & Usage](https://docs.infiniaweb.com/reference/v1_5_get_account_limits_). Amounts are in the account's currency.

```bash Request
curl -u "$API_KEY_USER:$API_KEY_PASSWORD" \
  "https://app2test.infiniaweb.com/infinia_api/v1/accounts/189075/limits/"
```
```json Response
### Brazil (BRL) individuals
For individuals with BRL accounts, these requirements replace the individual requirements above. Business accounts follow the standard business requirements.
* Most recent income tax return (IRPF).
* Filing receipt of the income tax return.
* Last 3 months of bank statements.
### Review
Infinia's compliance team reviews the documentation and tells you the outcome. The new limit reflects the income or activity level the documents evidence, and is applied directly to the account, with no code changes on your side. The account keeps operating at the default limit while the review is in progress.
Limit increases can be approved up to **USD 100,000,000.00 equiv.** (100M) per calendar month.
